Private Onsen

The Japanese have loved hot spring bathing for a long time.
As there are many volcanoes in Japan, there are many hot springs.
Hot spring bathing makes your body relax and heals your heart.

Public-Bath / 大浴場

People take off all their clothes entering a Japanese hot spring.
Our ryokan is equipped with gender-segregated public indoor bath.
When going to a public bath, please take a bath towel and a small towel for washing your body from the guest room.
Please take off all your clothes and enter the public bath only with a small towel.
First wash your body with soap and then rinse thoroughly before entering the bathtub.
Please do not soak your towel in the bathtub.
Dry yourself with a towel before going back to the dressing room.

The public bath has a retro atmosphere.
Because it is a large bathtub, you can enjoy it relaxedly.
Our spring consists of hot spring water with skin-beautifying effect, and you’ll enjoy yourself with a 100% free flowing hot spring.
There is also a sauna.

Private-Onsen(Guest room with semi-open-air bath) / 客室露天風呂

You can consider guest rooms with open-air bath if you are reluctant to enter the public bath naked.
Please do not wash your body in the bathtub.
Please do not pull out the bath plug.

It is a bath with bamboo charcoal.

It is a bath with Japanese cypress.

Appearance

It adopts a Japanese ryokan style with impressive white walls.
Despite located in a quiet residential area, it has a large site and you can enjoy your stay like in a villa.

Japanese garden / 日本庭園

Japanese garden on site can be watched from guest room and restaurant.
Walking in the garden, you can see the appearance of the seasons.

A fish preserve / 生簀

Because there is a fish preserve in the inn, you can eat fish fresh.

A machine that gives out drinks you desired when coins or notes are inserted.

Tatami room / 畳

A tatami is a mat used to cover the floor in a Japanese room.
It’s made of bundled straw and covered with tightly woven rushes called igusa.
Japanese sit down and lie directly on the tatami taking off their shoes here.

Jigoku-mushi / 地獄蒸し

When I explain "Jigoku-mushi", it's the recipe which steams the various ingredients by the steam from a hot hot spring.

Futon / 布団

At night, you sleep in futon on the tatami floor except certain guest rooms.
The staff will spread out the futon on the tatami floor while you’re having dinner at the restaurant.

The Japanese have been using toilets with shower for over 30 years.
These toilets allow you to wash yourself with water of a comfortable temperature, and to dry yourself with breezy air.

All of our rooms are equipped with an outdoor bath with 100% pure hot spring water, and a toilet with shower.

Guest rooms with a detached Open-Air Onsen

This is the room of the highest grade in this inn.
This room is the only detached type.
The Japanese-style room has 8 tatami mats, with an atmosphere flavoured with Asian taste.
The semi-open-air bath on the terrace is a bathtub using bamboo charcoal with an air of openness.
Baths are closely tied with the room, so it is recommended for couples.

"Shun" is the time of the year when a certain food is the freshest and tastiest

One evening's dinner.
Our hotel uses fresh ingredients incorporating the seasonal taste.

Breakfast is healthy with many items.
Rice is served in an Earthen pot.
Miso soup is a white miso tailored with onions and seaweed.

For meals, we eat dinner and breakfast at the restaurant.
You can enjoy your meal at the table seating where the garden can be seen or at a tatami room.

Sake / 日本酒

Sake is a Japanese rice wine.
It has been enjoyed in Japan for a long time.
You can drink it hot or cold.
Its alcohol content is about 15%.

Shochu / 焼酎

Shochu is a Japanese vodka made from rice, barley, or sweet potato.
Sake is fermented, but shochu is distilled.
Shochu has an alcohol content of about 25 to 45%.
It is normally mixed with hot or cold water.

Shonin-ga-hama sand bath / 別府海浜砂湯

It is approximately 5 minutes by car from hotel.
It is a natural sauna sandstone utilizing the sprout of hot springs on the coastal sand.
Wear a yukata in a naked state, move to the beach and close your eyes while covered by sand.
After Steamed in sand for about 15 to 20 minutes, enter the sodium-chloride hot spring and the course is over.
Also, because there is a movable roof, you can take a bath even in the rain.
It costs 1,000 yen for adults.

Kan-nawa Mushi-yu / 鉄輪むし湯

It is approximately 10 minutes by car from the hotel.
It is a steam bath with history of over 700 years.

Takegawara Onsen / 竹瓦温泉

It is approximately 12 minutes by car from hotel.
It was a municipal public bath founded in 1879.
It is a symbolic presence in Beppu.

Tatsumaki Jigoku(Tornado Hell) / 龍巻地獄

It is approximately 9 minutes by car from hotel.

Chi-no-ike Jigoku(Blood Pool Hell) / 血の池地獄

It is approximately 9 minutes by car from hotel.
It is the oldest natural hell in Japan, a pond that looks red with red thermal mud fitting for the name "hell".

Shira-ike Jigoku(White Pond Hell) / 白池地獄

It is approximately 10 minutes by car from hotel.
The white pond hell located in the center of the Kannawa hot spring has a mysterious color in the hot spring pond in the Japanese style garden.
Hot water at 95 ° C is colorless and transparent when spouted. However, it changes to pale as temperature and pressure fall.
There is also a tropical fish hall utilizing the hot spring heat.

Oni-yama Jigoku(Devil's Mountain Hell) / 鬼山地獄

It is approximately 10 minutes by car from hotel.
"Oni-yama Jigoku", which is close to "Shira-ike Jigoku", began breeding crocodiles for the first time in Japan in 1923 by using the hot spring heat.

Kamado Jigoku(Oven Hell) / かまど地獄

It is approximately 10 minutes by car from hotel.
Kamado Jigoku was named after an ancient myth in which steamed rice was cooked with the fumarolic gas. There are six places of interest from the 1st District through the 6th District.
You can experience three footbath tours such as "Throat and Skin Water", which is said to have a beauty effect at a high temperature of 100 ℃, and "Sand Steeping Foot Water".

Yama Jigoku(Mountain Hell) / 山地獄

It is approximately 11 minutes by car from hotel.
"Yama Jigoku" is fresh with steam blows out from all over the mountains.
